Linyi is bringing intangible cultural heritage closer to people's daily lives through a series of Cultural and Natural Heritage Day activities, showcasing local protection achievements while encouraging young people and residents to experience traditional culture first-hand across campuses, communities and public venues.
This year's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day fell on June 13, running under the theme "Intangible heritage makes life better". In Linyi, a major exhibition and the 12th traditional culture campus program opened on June 12 at Linyi Vocational College, presenting the city's living traditions in an interactive setting.
More than 200 ICH items from across the city took part, covering traditional craftsmanship, fine arts, medicine and other categories. The exhibition displayed more than 1,000 products and practices, including weaving, paper-cutting, hand embroidery, the Four Treasures of the Study, wood carving, clay sculpture, dough modeling and food-related skills, attracting many students and nearby residents.
The event reflected Linyi's broader progress in heritage protection. In 2025, three inheritors were recognized as national-level representative inheritors. The city now has six national-level ICH items, 91 provincial-level items and 577 municipal-level items, as well as five national-level inheritors, 45 provincial-level inheritors and 416 municipal-level inheritors.
Local initiatives have also gained wider recognition. Lanling county, Langya straw-weaving workshops, vocational college research bases and projects connecting traditional skills with young people and modern life have been recognized through various ICH programs.
