2026-07-08

As all Round of 16 matches concluded on July 8 (Beijing Time), the full quarterfinal lineup of the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico has been confirmed. Eight teams from three continents secured quarterfinal tickets after single-elimination knockout games.

The eight qualified sides include six European teams (France, England, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland), one South American team (Argentina) and one African side (Morocco). Norway reached the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in its history. France and England are the only two teams to make the last eight in the 2018, 2022 and 2026 tournaments. Four quarterfinal fixtures are scheduled from July 10 to 12, followed by semifinals, the third-place match and the final on July 20. Statistics of quarterfinal qualifiers across the past three World Cups show more balanced continental competitiveness, with African teams delivering steady breakthroughs in recent editions.

The fully finalized knockout bracket draws global attention to upcoming high-level duels. The tournament continues to showcase the charm of world football, highlighting diversified strength distribution among global soccer powers and injecting passion into cross-cultural sports exchanges worldwide.
