The 26th Shandong Provincial Games to open on August 26 in Linyi

At a press conference held by Shandong Provincial Government Information Office on July 16, authorities unveiled full arrangements for The 26th Shandong Provincial Games, the first edition hosted in the old revolutionary base area of Yimeng.

The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for August 26, with the closing on September 5. The event sets 38 major sports categories and 1,081 minor events, awarding a total of 1,620 gold medals, attracting 13,000 registered athletes, hitting record highs in both event quantity and participant scale. Up to now, 98 percent of preliminary matches have been completed, and finals of 11 major sports have wrapped up, producing 380 gold medals. New Olympic-connected events including figure skating, ice hockey, coastal rowing, baseball and softball are added this session, blending the Yimeng Spirit with national sportsmanship.

Hosting the provincial games delivers a comprehensive boost to Linyi’s sports industry, cultural tourism and urban image. The grand sports gala showcases the vigorous vitality of Yimeng old revolutionary base to the whole province.
