22nd Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi to open on September 22

The 22nd Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi will kick off on September 22 and run until October 21. Centered on the theme Hometown of Calligrapher Sage Wang Xizhi · China Calligraphy City, the festival consists of three major sections with 23 diverse events, aiming to build a people‑oriented grand cultural gala.

After a 15‑year interval, the opening ceremony will return to Wang Xizhi Former Residence, the birthplace of the Sage of Calligraphy. The opening programme features ritual performances inspired by ancient The Book of Songs, screening of special documentary Asking Ink · Langya, speeches by distinguished guests, and a joint initiative issued together with other Chinese calligraphy‑famous cities. The activity will also launch the “Ten‑thousand Yangtze‑River‑Delta Tourists Visit Hometown of Calligraphy Sage” campaign.

Three thematic sections include “Langya Ink Gathering” painting‑calligraphy exhibitions, “Hanmo Carnival” cultural‑tourism experiences and “Sage‑of‑Calligraphy Elegant Gathering” cultural‑consumption activities. All exhibition displays during the festival period will open free for citizens and tourists.

Linyi will host painting‑calligraphy shows, academic forums, immersive cultural experiences and cultural‑consumption events to carry forward Chinese calligraphy heritage and fuel high‑quality development of cultural‑tourism integration.
