Linyi hosts mass wedding to promote civilized marriage customs

Sixty couples and 10 golden-anniversary couples took part in a mass wedding ceremony on Sept 28 in Linyi, embracing a simple yet solemn Chinese-style rite to begin a new chapter of happiness amid Linyi's scenic landscape.

The event promotes a civilized, healthy, and thrifty approach to marriage, rooted in the spirit of Yimeng. Since 2024, Linyi has hosted this mass wedding for three consecutive years, guiding 1,500 couples to build happy families and fostering positive social customs. This year, the national conference on rural civilization was held in Linyi, showcasing the city's marriage custom reform experience nationwide.

At the ceremony, couples in traditional Chinese attire performed rituals including the triple bow and hand-holding vows. Guests presented commemorative certificates, while golden-anniversary couples gifted family motto scrolls and shared blessings. After the ceremony, couples rode bus-themed wedding cars to explore Linyi's natural beauty.

This mass wedding reflects Linyi's commitment to wedding custom reform, blending tradition with modern civility to inspire young people toward more thrifty, civilized marriages.
