Linyi steel trade association established to coordinate industry

The Linyi Steel Trade Association was established at its inaugural meeting on Oct 16, giving the city's steel trading sector a professional platform for communication, coordination and joint problem-solving.

Steel trading is an important pillar of Linyi Trade City, playing a significant role in ensuring market circulation, stabilizing industrial and supply chains and advancing the city's internationalization. Facing market volatility and competition within the sector, steel trading companies needed a joint platform to move forward together, and the association responds to that demand.

The meeting reviewed and approved the association's charter and elected its first board of directors and supervisory board, with Peng Zhenkong elected as the first president. Officials from the municipal Party committee's social work department, the municipal commerce bureau and other departments addressed the meeting, calling for stronger Party leadership, improved internal governance and industry self-discipline; for the association to serve as a bridge between government and enterprises by conveying favorable policies and reporting corporate concerns; and for it to align with the "hundreds of delegations, thousands of enterprises, Linyi Trade City going global" initiative to guide companies into overseas markets and guard against foreign trade risks.

The association said it will operate under Party leadership and in accordance with the law, serving as a home for members by handling policy communication, supply and demand matching and rights protection, advocating honest business practices and opposing disorderly competition. It will also encourage members to fulfill social responsibilities and take part in public welfare.
