Mengyin county in Linyi is using digital sales, cold-chain logistics and direct supply partnerships to turn its peach industry into a major engine of rural vitalization and a sweet economy worth more than 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion).
At a promotional event held in Nanjing on June 13, the county showcased Runjia Mengyin peaches, sourced directly to the retailer. Mengyin currently provides four peach varieties to CR Vanguard, with daily deliveries exceeding 5,000 kilograms.
Known as China's "hometown of peaches", Mengyin has 803,000 mu, or about 53,500 hectares, of peach orchards and an annual output of more than 1 million metric tons, both ranking first among counties nationwide.
Its peaches are sold in major domestic markets including the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, and are exported to more than 20 countries and regions, including Singapore and Dubai.
Digital infrastructure has become a key advantage. Mengyin has built an integrated system covering standardized sorting, pre-cooling, storage and cold-chain delivery. Peaches can be picked, sorted and shipped the same day, with next-day delivery available within 800 kilometers. The system has reduced fruit loss from 3 percent to 0.3 percent and saved growers more than 10 million yuan in 2025.
More than 6,000 online shops and 60,000 e-commerce workers now support the industry, helping over 200,000 farmers increase their incomes.
