National Fresh Edamame Industry Innovation Conference opens in Tancheng

The 2026 National Fresh Edamame Industry Innovation Conference and on-site exhibition for spring fresh edamame in Tancheng kicked off on July 2.

Industry experts on soybean breeding and plant protection exchanged views on industrial bottlenecks and breeding innovation during the forum, while evaluation activities were held for 42 domestic and foreign edamame varieties. In recent years, Tancheng has prioritized fresh edamame as a featured industry for farmers’ income growth. The planting area of spring fresh edamame has exceeded 26,000 mu, yielding over 33,000 tons of fresh pods each year with an average income of more than 4,000 yuan per mu.

The conference gathers national industry resources to advance technological upgrading of Tancheng's edamame chain, expand market channels and build a distinctive featured agricultural brand for southern Shandong.
