1‑day countdown to 22nd Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi

The highly anticipated 22nd Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi is poised to officially kick off on the morning of September 22 at the Former Residence of Wang Xizhi, revered as the “Sage of Calligraphy”. Scheduled to run through October 21, the grand cultural gala adopts the official theme “Hometown of the Calligrapher Sage · China Calligraphy City”.

The opening ceremony will present elegant traditional cultural performances, including the classic ritual music recital ofMinor Ode · Lu Ming, showcasing the profound charm of ancient Chinese rituals, poetry and traditional elegance. The official opening will be followed by the screening of the feature documentary Ink Quest in Langya, together with keynote speeches delivered by provincial and municipal leaders and distinguished guests.

Linyi will join hands with renowned calligraphy cities across China including Shaoxing and Xuzhou to jointly release the initiative on cultural exchange and mutual promotion themed “Calligraphy Heritage and Urban Development”. The cross-city alliance aims to deepen cultural dialogue, share heritage resources, boost talent cultivation and integrate cultural and tourism development among traditional calligraphy cities. Meanwhile, the activity of “Ten-thousand Yangtze River Delta Tourists Visiting the Hometown of the Calligrapher Sage” will be officially launched to facilitate regional cultural and tourism exchanges.

Centering on calligraphy heritage inheritance and innovative cultural consumption, the 22nd edition of the festival comprises 23 wonderful activities under three major sections, covering themed calligraphy and painting exhibitions, immersive cultural and tourism experiences, and diverse cultural consumption events. All exhibition activities will be open to citizens and tourists for free, offering an inclusive, people-oriented cultural feast that inherits millennia-old Langya calligraphy traditions.
