New streetlights brighten night journeys in two Linyi villages

2026-09-29

Two villages in Zaoyuan town, Lanshan district of Linyi in East China's Shandong province, have installed new solar streetlights and replaced damaged ones, improving night-time travel for residents.

In Yaojiazhuang village, more than 30 aging solar-powered lights were replaced after a village-wide survey identified fixtures that were beyond repair, insufficiently bright or frequently failing. The new lights offer better illumination, energy savings and low maintenance costs, covering main roads and the village's cultural activity square. The upgrade has resolved long-standing complaints about lights that worked only intermittently, making residents feel safer and more at ease when going out at night.

In Dujiazhuang village, several alleys and intersections had long gone unlit, a problem frequently raised by residents. The village's resident first secretary took on the issue, coordinating resources and pushing the project forward. More than 10 new lights were installed along main roads, at blind corners and in residential clusters, with positions planned according to residents' daily routes.

As the new lights came on one by one, previously dark sections became well lit, making it easier for villagers returning late from work or taking evening walks, and adding a layer of safety at night.

Zaoyuan town said it will continue to focus on the small and difficult issues in residents' daily lives, deliver every public-benefit project with care, and extend more benefits to local households.
