Geng Quanjuan, party secretary of Xiguanzhuang village in Yishui county, Linyi, Shandong province, has transformed rural fields into mobile live-streaming studios. Carrying portable equipment directly into orchards and farmlands, she champions authentic agricultural products ranging from fresh cherries to handcrafted goods, bridging the gap between remote villages and nationwide consumers.
Since stepping into her role in April 2025, Geng has redirected her e-commerce expertise toward community enrichment rather than personal traffic. Recognizing that many villagers lack digital marketing skills, she has spearheaded free public training programs across more than ten townships, mentoring over a thousand residents in video production and live-streaming operations.
Additionally, her platform provides complimentary promotion for elderly artisans and local farmers, accumulating over 200,000 orders to date.
Geng's dedication mirrors the broader surge of rural e-commerce in Linyi, where digital integration continuously fuels local prosperity. In 2025, Linyi's rural e-commerce retail sales reached 19.09 billion yuan ($2.81 billion), marking a 16.5 percent year-on-year increase.
Supported by nearly 3,000 village-level service stations and comprehensive logistics networks, the city has eliminated bottlenecks for agricultural distribution.
By turning smartphones into new farming tools, practitioners like Geng inject lasting digital momentum into rural vitalization in the area, helping rural communities achieve sustainable economic growth.
