Tancheng county revitalizes hygiene product industry

Tancheng county in Shandong province has transformed its hygiene product sector, shifting from historic homogenization struggles to standardized, globalized growth. Initiated in the 1990s, the local industry has tackled developmental bottlenecks through dedicated government support.

Since last year, a specialized team has addressed core enterprise challenges by expanding market access. To resolve overseas marketing hurdles, authorities teamed up with the Linyi Trade City and county commerce bureau to invite international purchasing delegations and organize professional trade exhibitions.

Additionally, the team bridged R&D gaps by partnering with Soochow University's Textile and Clothing Engineering College to establish joint laboratories, while financial institutions provided tailored funding solutions.

Regulatory bodies have also implemented smart, tiered supervision using online monitoring systems to ensure full traceability from raw materials to final packaging. Today, local enterprises hold 79 independent brands alongside nearly 300 OEM labels, with 18 companies securing prestigious international certifications like ISO and FDA.

Furthermore, construction is underway on a 217-mu (14-hectare) industrial park, where eight enterprises will begin operations by the end of the year. By expanding into pet care, senior nursing, and e-commerce, Tancheng is rapidly evolving its small products into a major, flourishing industrial cluster.
