Continuous record-high temperatures pushed power demand in Linyi to a historic peak at 1,304.3 megawatts at 13:34 on August 3, exceeding the previous summer maximum by over 40 megawatts and marking the first time the load broke the 1,300-megawatt threshold in the city's history. Despite surging consumption, Linyi's power grid operates steadily with reliable power supply guaranteed.
State Grid Shandong Electric Power Linyi Branch fully implemented summer power security arrangements issued by the CPC Linyi Municipal Committee, Linyi Municipal People's Government and State Grid Shandong. Multiple measures were rolled out to secure stable electricity supply for residents and industrial production.
On power source support, newly installed capacity reached 450,000 kilowatts for conventional power, 2.2 million kilowatts for new energy and 380,000 kilowatts for energy storage units. Spring maintenance was completed for 38 thermal power units and 450 wind turbines. Technicians conducted capacity assessment for 80 power generators under a "one unit, one customized plan" policy, lifting peak generation capacity by 10 percent year-on-year. The city delivered zero shutdowns for its 607 wind turbines during evening peak hours as required by the summer power guarantee initiative.

For grid reinforcement, 21 grid upgrading projects were launched. Over 1,193 spring maintenance tasks were fully completed, eliminating 3,870 hidden risks affecting more than 5,000 households. A joint prevention mechanism integrating transmission line patrols and forest protection ensured zero failures across 683 kilometers of key power corridors covering seven major transmission hubs.
On demand response, municipal and county load management centers operated around the clock, forming a 580,000-kilowatt response resource pool. Coordinated with Linyi Development and Reform Commission, orderly power consumption plans enabled peak shifting capacity of 3.11 million kilowatts. Four virtual power plants were put into operation, ranking second in Shandong Province in regulation capacity.
For customer services, a 100-day special campaign focused on risk prevention, standardized operation and service efficiency was carried out. Mechanisms including daily customer demand briefings and dedicated service groups solved over 3,300 public requests promptly. The utility prioritizes live-line maintenance and midnight construction to minimize blackout impact, completing 2,077 live-operation tasks and cutting power outage losses equivalent to 793,000 household-hours. Real-time voltage monitoring and fast wire replacement via green channels stabilized residential power quality.
Emergency response mechanisms run 24/7 across municipal and county branches, with more than 800 staff on duty daily. A 50-person municipal emergency team and 27 medium-voltage generator vehicles plus 147 portable generators are deployed region-wide for instant breakdown recovery.
State Grid Linyi will continue prioritizing power security as a core political task, coordinating grid operation, equipment maintenance and customer services to fully win the summer power supply guarantee campaign.
