Linyi boosts prepackaged food exports through trade facilitation

A batch of prepackaged foods exported from Linyi, East China's Shandong province, to Guinea highlights the city's expanding overseas markets for prepackaged food products. The shipment consisted of 254 types of products, including seasonings, beverages, snacks, and edible oils, with a total value of around 1.18 million yuan ($174,900).

In April 2024, Linyi was designated as a pilot city for exporting prepackaged foods through a market procurement trade model, allowing companies to source goods from multiple suppliers, consolidate shipments and complete customs procedures locally.

After the pilot scope was expanded in 2025, the number of approved export categories increased from 10 to 20, adding Linyi's specialties such as bean products, freeze-dried foods, dried fruits, and mixed-grain porridge. Export destinations have also expanded to 27 countries and regions, helping more local food products enter international markets.

To improve efficiency for shipments involving multiple product categories and small quantities, Linyi Customs introduced an "inspection before loading" model. By allowing goods to be inspected before container sealing, the new procedure has improved customs clearance efficiency by 30 percent and reduced logistics costs.

In the first half of this year, Linyi Customs supervised 48 prepackaged food export shipments under the market procurement trade model, involving 75 standard containers and a total value of nearly 11.28 million yuan.
