Volunteers guard the course as 26,000 runners chase the finish line

While runners pushed toward the finish line at the 2026 Linyi Marathon on Nov 1, volunteers stood along the course, guarding the whole route with patience and enthusiasm.

From water stations and turning points to the finish area, volunteers offered refreshments, directions and encouragement, ensuring the smooth progress of the race that wound along both banks of the Yihe river.

Their service, described by organizers as "you run toward the finish, we guard the whole course", has become an integral part of the city's flagship sporting event.
