A blueberry cultivation training class under the Yimeng Red Sister public-benefit program was held in Daxing town, Linshu county, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, on Oct 13 and 14, with 50 women blueberry growers taking part.
The class was hosted by the China Women's Development Foundation, supported by the Shandong women and children's development foundation, undertaken by the Linyi women's federation and co-organized by the Linshu county women's federation. An expert from Qingdao delivered the training.
The program opened with a "Red Sister first classroom" session, featuring a situational dialogue titled "Deep Ties of Yimeng" and a lecture titled "'Yimeng Mother' and Her Children," recalling the stories of the Yimeng Red Sisters who supported the revolutionary cause.
Training combined theory with hands-on practice. Participants learned nursery and transplanting techniques, variety selection, site and soil improvement, field management, pest identification and green control, and harvest and grading.
